1913 D Wheat Cent

CONECA didn't show a listing for the 1913-D.. It did however show the 1913 S.. Honestly, didn't help me much because I am still learning what all the abbreviations mean.. just being honest.. Will someone please help me out on this one.. Everything, letters and numbers, appear to have a strong strike on the obverse, whith the exception of the L in Liberty.. Why does the R in trust look like a heart at the top?? I think this coin is in good condition considering the age.. Does anything look out of the ordinary to anyone?? I'm not even going to say what I see.. Haha.. The reverse is not as well defined as the obverse.. the wheat leafs look to be a different size.. PLURIBUS UNUM and ONE CENT look like a strong strike.. Am I wording this correctly?? Any opinion will be appreciated.. TY

IMO... It's a worn coin... Maybe over-polish but more likely due to age

 

It's a 107 year-old-coin, give it a break. There's nothing unusual about it.

I thought the purpose of this site was to educate and encourage people about coins.. but I am about to get off here entirely.. some people are just mean and rude and like to make smart remarks and talk to me like I am an idiot.. nothing educated about that.. they should run for president since they are so educated and like to talk down to people!! I can see why someone would be afraid to get on here and ask a simple question.. I have been accused of not doing my research and relying on the kindness of others to tell me about my coins.. ridiculous!! I must have misunderstood what this site was for.. I have also been told my coins are not what they are because of the condition they were in.. only to be apologized to because other nice people took the time to look and see what it was regardless of the condition.. this site should be an elite site only for the smartest and superior coin collectors!! Then they can use big words to belittle each other!! Ridiculous!!

 

@Candice Wise, I hear what you're saying about the rudeness. Just take it all in and not worry about it. They are just crotchety old guys that are set in their ways. They treat everyone that way. They really don't mean to be rude (at least most of them don't)

 

I feel you... just a few days ago I announced my departure from this site but you can't give up on something because it’s hard... these people have good hearts and good intentions.. give it time and you’ll come to like these people

 

Candice, I admire you going through your dad's collection and trying to learn about the coins and have always tried to give you my honest opinion and hopefully some helpful information. I re-read this post and don't see anyone being rude to you. Some may be "short" due to members trying to find the "Holy Grail" in coins and posting lots of common coins, but don't let your skin get thin.
I see a well worn 117 year old coin (eddiespin can't do math well) that is what I would consider normal. You have documented it well in your photos but I wasn't able to enlarge them. Did you post them as FULL IMAGE? If you did, my page didn't show that. When I attempted to blow them up on my laptop, they became too distorted to tell what you were referring to. Keep up the search and educating yourself.

 

Don't give up! You'll run into things like you described everywhere you go. Keep searching and learning.

 

The coin is dated 1913. That's makes it 107 years old in my book. If it is 117 years old Candice has a gold mine as that would make it a 1903 Lincoln.

I understand what you are saying but in this area you owe an apology.

We all make mistakes and at times we all get cranky, for different reasons.

When I first started on here with no clue whatsoever about numismatics or photography, I, like many newcomers assumed anything that looked a bit different must be an error of some kind. Some of the replies to my questions were, I thought at the time, a little short. When I thought about it I realised that the more knowledgeable members were trying to respond to 40 or more questions over various forums as well as making posts of their own, so of course some answers were going to be generic in nature rather than a detailed analysis of your coin.
Hang in there we all have good and bad days, but if you seriously want to learn this is the only place to be

 

look getting your feathers in a ruffle over words on a computer screen is silly there are much more important things to worry about in the world

why worry about minor things like opinions when you can focus on serious stuff like family, coin collecting, and such

never let opinions get under your skin just keep your head up and keep going

Okay.. We folks in south know when someone is being a smart___... Paddy, Mountain Man, Expat, Collecting Nut, and Silver Pop have always paid attention to my post and tried to help me.. and believe me, it took a minute for me to get Paddy,lol.. but he's the best.. I have learned a tremendous amount from these people.. and I know I usually don't get the answer I'm hoping for but I can take A Little constructive criticism.. but, Fast Eddie and Fred are smart mouths who enjoy hurting others feelings and I will not apologize to Fast Eddie.. Ever!! My daddy taught me to be like this.. If you don't have any thing nice to say then don't say nothing at all.. and I am not an idiot by far.. don't think the only coins I have are useless pennies.. I have much more than that.. I choose not to post.. I know it bugs yall when I get excited and post alot but I can't help it.. Thanks y'all
