I agree, but people will still get in line to get them.

It’s gonna be 1340 plus or minus $30. Would like to spring for the reverse proof but it might be $700. Think it’s just going to be too steep for me. I might just get the 2 coin set.

How difficult will the $10 reverse proof be to get? 5k mintage. Do you guys think it will sell out in 10 minutes? A day? I have a feeling that coin is going to be pretty steep in the aftermarket if you want one. It will look cool in reverse proof too. Why did they go with a $10 designation instead of a $5? Anyone know?

I could be wrong but I don't think it will sell out that quickly. 5000 mintage is pretty high for a coin that will cost north of $600-$700. I would still log on when they go on sale to be sure but I think anyone who wants one will have a pretty good shot at it.

Don't know why they went with $10

Does it? I wonder what it says about me? That I like tall hats and black clothing and buckles on my shoes? Hmm.

I know all that Mayflower descendant stuff used to mean a lot to blue-blooded people who fancied themselves as elites, but with the number of generations that have passed since the 1620s, there are thousands upon thousands of us descended from Bradford and/or the Mayflower pilgrims. It ain't much of a thing to me, aside from a fun bit of trivia.

I'm also descended from both of the Adams presidents, for what that's worth.

But OK, yeah, I'll admit that it is kinda cool to hold a Pilgrim half dollar or one of the Presidential dollars, and say to my daughter, "Hey, look, that dude on the coin is an ancestor of ours."

It looks like at some point recently they started calling the 1/10th oz AGEs $5 and the quarter oz $10. It wasn’t that long ago the quarter oz gold commems were always $5.

According to the mints pricing chart at current gold prices the reverse proof $10 gold will be $702.50.

Is there any chance to get any of the Mayflower "coins/medals". I am a direct descendant of Sir Thomas Dale. My great grandmother came to America shortly after WW I with her 7 children. My great grandfather was killed in France during WW I, leaving her destitute. My great-great grandfather gave her $1,000 for passage to America. She settled in Indiana. I did get to meet her when I was 6.

I'm not sure what you have in mind, but Great Collections currently has at least 6 1920 or 1921 Pilgrim Tercentenary Half Dollars MS63-65 for auction.

Thanks, but I use to buy through auctions for other things, but I am really bad at bidding. My knowledge of coins have come from friends and relatives and usually about U.S. Mint, or other country's mints.

The two coin silver set is limited to a 14k mintage. It will probably sell out fast. You need a good internet connection and need to be on the Mint site to get one when they go on sale before the TV sellers snap them all up.

Blah. A couple of pretty half-assed, crap designs.
Completely uninspiring. No artistry evident in the designs at all.
    Completely pathetic.
Everyone involved in those coins should be beyond embarrassed.
If any of you out there know any of the designers, please slap them across the face for me.
I’m so sick of the garbage being spewed by the mint.
The mint these days is like the bozo in high school skating by in low level classes with a D-.
The mint is just pumping out one piece of crap after another to make some money.
If all they made were clad coins, they wouldn’t sell 5#!7!!!
