I've been collecting coins for years and I'm quite familiar with the hobby. Here's my question, has anyone ever heard fo a 1953 Lincoln Cent made from something besides copper? My son and I were going thru some old wheat rolls and came upon a silver colored 1953 cent. I'd say it's XF at a minimum. It also sticks to a magnet. We looked at this coin under a scope and it appears to be perfect. The rim is also silver in color. It has some toning on the reverse, kid of greyish like a steel cent. The obverse has no toning. We found this in a roll that was part of 10-12 that have not been touched in 45+ years. Most were form the 30's and 40's and avg condition.

    Thanks for your Help.

Most likely, it has been plated IMO. Would you be able to post a picture or a scan of the coin? BTW, welcome to the forum!! :thumb:

Could you give us a picture with a closeup of the date , could be a '43 steel cent that someone altered , is it a strong attraction to the magnet or a tiny pull from plating . thanks .
