Hi! Just bought a Morgan & a Peace dollar off eBay, both listed as errors by a reputable seller. The Morgan was listed as having a strike-through error on the nose of the obv, and the Peace was listed as having a delamination error on the obv, below the "In God We" (aka the thing that look like a deep scratch.) I don't specialize in Morgans or Peace dollars, so not sure if they are actually errors, or just post-mint damage. If the latter, I'll request a refund - paid $27 apiece for these. If they are the real deal, what exactly ARE they worth?

On the Peace I don't think it's a lamination problem. It looks like a die drack to me and in a very common place. I don't see anything on the Morgan.

That is a nice die crack on the Peace Dollar and may be a listed variety. I can't tell if that is a strike through or not on the Morgan. Judging by the line of the nose it would have to be very shallow.

You were right on the Peace Dollar! Got a positive ID on it on my reddit post! This is it: http://vamworld.com/wiki/1922-D_VAM-1E2

Apparently it's listed as very rare, with moderate collector interest (I-3 R-7.) Any idea on its value? I looked on eBay once I got the variety name, and someone's listing it for like $90 in worse condition, but that could be inflated.

I've gotten mixed opinions on the Morgan, one person said it's probably a strikethrough but with a softer foreign material since you can still see the design of the nose.

While I have little experience in either errors, the Morgan looks like PMD. Something made contact and left a "stain" around it. The Peace dollar looks to me like a die break and a thread strike-through (back of neck and hair) the way it twists and changed directions. Is it incused or raised? Just my two cents and worth about that.

The Morgan looks like a stain and at $27 you probably overpaid a little. The Peace Follar was a bargain. That is a great, well known die crack. Keepem both.

I found a VAM 1E2 that sod on ebay, graded by ANACS as EF40 Details cleaned. it sold for $29.

I think $90 is probably a bit high, $29 ok for "details", likely $40-$45 I'd think.

I am not a fan of the color of either coin though, they look lifeless in these pics.

can you post a front and back for the morgan dollar also? Maybe we can find a VAM for that...
