Does anyone besides me do this wheresgeorge.com game ? I have only about a dozen notes out there but I enjoy tracking my notes as it travels around the Country (hopefully ) . Boy , I bet if George could only talk , LOL .
"If I'm lion, I'm dyin!" One winter when I was 13, while we were at our cottage in Ocean City, MD, I found a hand-carved drum that had washed ashore. It was crudely made, and it had an animal skin stretched on the top. It looked like a lion's mane and had thick hair on the outer edges. When we returned home to the Maryland suburbs of DC, I got an opportunity to take it to the Smithsonian for examination. You could tell by the tiny worm holes in the wood that it had been in the water for some time, and the person from the Smithsonian who examined it said that it probably came from West Africa.
I found one many years ago. I went to the website and entered the Serial Number. It was entered about 4 times by other people. Then I spent it. This topic has been mentioned very few times here on CoinTalk.
It's been a loooong time since I've heard of anyone speak of "Where's George." Maybe close to 20 years. Didn't think that it would still be up and running. Not sure I could even remember my credentials. Email address should still be the same however. Z
I'm a little upset. I entered 10 notes since Aug. and somehow my Saved bills have been erased with out recovery .
Is it possible that the notes were forwarded through the banking system to one of the FRB's where they were set aside for destruction?
Yes, it's been awhile, but I used to frequent the WheresGeorge website. Now you've inspired me to go check it out again to see where my bills have traveled to.
If you're registered and logged in when you entered a bill (new or one you found), you'll get an email whenever one gets re-entered. Click on the Your Account tab, click Your bills, and then refresh. There will be a link to all the bills you've entered while logged in. Also on the Your account tab, if you click on Hit Analysis Report and refresh, you can link to all your bills that were hit If you get a Where's George bill, you can still enter it without registering. You'll get to see where it stared but won't know if gets hit in the future. I've never had any problems with email being spammed I think as long as you know the email where you registered, Hank can get your username and password fixed
Well, you got me curious. It's been about 10 years since I went to the website. My acct like yours had been purged. There is an orange link that you can hit that will restore your bills. I did and found out that I had 30 bills registered for $728.
I had a friend that collected these notes. I tried to tell him that he is defeating the purpose of the game. He did not care and just kept taking them out of circulation. Idiot!
I do it. I have found 30 bills so far. I do enjoy seeing how far they have traveled. I also stamp my bills with a Bart Simpson in purple before I send them back into circulation. It has been a very long time since I have seen a "Where's George ?" bill in my change.
Had one early this year. My second in over 20 years. I spent it in Helena and it was spent again, right here in Helena and hasn't been heard from since. Not many play the game and in fact I see that the site no longer has the rubber stamp for stamping them. I guess you'd have to make your own, but why bother?
I've been doing it for about 8 years... haven't entered as many as I used to but some of my bills have made it to the UK, Australia, China, Netherlands, Germany, Ireland, Bahamas, Dominican Republic, Ukraine, Trinidad and Tobago, Ethiopia and Zimbabwe
