Anybody have a good technique to clean up the Indian Head Cent. I scrubbed it for 2 minutes and it is as hard as cement. I won't come off.

    Maybe soak it? o_O

If I were in your position, I'd try a prolonged distilled water soak for the IHC.

That cannon is an old players token from a Monopoly game I believe and might be worth a couple of $$ to a collector.

Distilled water for a few days. I have one I soaked as an experiment. I will find it and post. 40 Vol peroxide will work also. Distilled water first.

I would be surprised if the religious medal wasn't silver also.

It was buried between two large roots. It wasn't easy getting it out. I almost gave up on it thinking it was junk.

So I didn't pay attention to your advice

I soaked it in vinegar overnight and this was the result.. 1907

Put a little isopropyl alcohol on it. Brush it gently with an old toothbrush. Remove the alcohol with a soft cloth. See what happens. No guarantees but it may help.

I've had good results on copper / bronze making a piece look "more presentable" by applying a little heavy mineral oil to it. It will somewhat protect the metal from futher environmental issues and give it a bit of a smoother appearance.

This medal has had a coat of mineral oil applied. It looked "dry" and a bit granular satiny when I got it. Soaked first in acetone, then a coat of mineral oil and blotted the excess off.
