Hi All, Its been awhile since I have posted. I have a question. If a quarter planchet was punched out of sheeting meant for dimes, how much would that quarter weigh?
One easy way to easily recognize a quarter struck on dime stock is that the detail closest to the edge is often lacking.
@Bradley Trotter @coinguy2255 Here is a neat CoinWorld article https://www.coinworld.com/news/precious-metals/1970-d-quarter-dollar-struck-on-dime-stock.html
Thanks for your pics and responses. Nice specimens BTW. Ok so I have a 1999 Delaware. I thought it might have been dime stock but its heavier than 4.3G. Its thinner than a quarter. Weighs 5.2G. The scratches are not that deep. I could polish most out. Not going to, but saying. Its a weird find for me and is interesting.
The Quarter struck on Dime Stock occurred in 1969 and 1970.. They are very rare to find. Yours looks like simple circulation wear. Damage to the clad on both sides. Sorry.
Thats a lot of wear. Like 150 years worth. Seems like way more than 21 years worth to me. The edges seem to not match the wear. They are pretty good. I would think they would be smooth like the rest.
Thanks.. I have an entire gallery of pictures from my massive collection. I love sharing what I have with everyone!
If you have seen photos of his collection while @paddyman98 is wearing his "wifey" t-shirt, you will understand how well-organized his error collection is.
Sorry, but your coin isn't an error. All of the scratches are from something abrasive and that happened after it left the mint.
paddyman, do you need to talk to someone about this compulsion of yours? They tried with me and it didn't help. (green with envy)
