Melt. No, I'm kidding, of course. If it were for my own collection, and I really wanted it, $100 or more. If I were buying it to flip it for a profit, probably double bid (~$80.) This is all, of course, assuming it has the same wild rainbow toning in-hand, and that I think it's natural.
Grey Sheet (Ask) is $43 (MS-63) and $54 (MS-64). I might pay $50 for this coin - tops. Others (like Lehigh) might pay $150 to $200 for the coin because of the toning.
Wow, I am so predictable. I saw the coin and my mind immediately said 3-5X bid based on the effect of the luster on the color. That range is $129-$215. Kudos to Hobo for nailing that one. However, my new found respect for strike and surface preservation would make me pass on this coin despite the very very pretty toning.
I'd pay 70-90 for it. I have a couple common date Morgans in that grade with similar, though not as vibrant toning that I paid under $100 for. It's a nice coin.
It is for a poker player, but I don't have to worry about that, I shift gears more often than Memphis Raines at the table.
I really don't collect foreign coins but yes, I will pay a premium for any toned coin if it suits me. Sometimes 5X bid is an absolute bargain.
wow next time i get some illa sk you you about them they sell for a discount here. i am going to be rich
I am no longer purchasing just toned coins. I am seeking toned coins that also have good surface preservation and strike for the assigned grade. I used to basically ignore these two aspects of grading when buying coins, not anymore. This coin is beat up. I think the surfaces are no better than an MS62, but the toning bumped it to MS63.
