Just wanted to share these; I picked them up yesterday at the local shop for about $12.25 Not the best pics, sorry. Marcus Agrippa, nothing on the rev. Vespasian, cant make anything out on rev. has exposed metal, bu was under $3. Antoninus Pius, needs some more cleaning but I think I'm going to leave it alone. what do you guys think??
Randy, I took the liberty of lightening up your pics. I don't collect ancients but I do find them fascinating. If I see any that are good deal (cheap)lol I just might pick some up. I used Picasa 3 Photo Editing. It's FREE from Google................John
The combination of the price and the person on the coin, I couldnt pass it up only one I can read is Agrippa. I think I got a good deal on it though. Thanks you can find some pretty decant looking ones with great detail for cheap but they will probably be contantine era. I did find one of Augustus (minted un Tiberius) though for 8.50, but was in about the same condition as these.
Randy, those look pretty much like most of the ones i find metal detecting. Except i have to search hours on end and walk many more miles. So for $12 you did VERY well!
Thanks I'm sure its much more fun/exiting to find stuff like mine in the ground, or better yet ones like you find; but was still a surprise to find them at the shop and yet again on the price.
Randy, the Agrippa is certainly the nicest of the bunch. Hey, if you're happy with them, more power to ya! Even the crusty ones need a home!

Thanks it was 6 bucks and some change for the As of Agrippa, and I've seen some that were were in the same condition as the vespasian I posted for 15-20 which I almost got, so I'm definatly happy. It needed a little cleaning of the left(my left) side though, all I could make out originally was AL. It does kinda look like Al Bundy though lol, so maybe I shoulda left it. I'm not gone mess with the one of Vespasian, dont think I could improove it in any way. lol Thanks hey, with a lil soap n water its good as new lol
Not bad, may I ask how much you paid for that Trajan you posted the pic of? I have quite a few romans myself, but I have yet to purchase a good trajan.

would be great but hey, we can find gold eagle I met a guy that went metal detecting around an old mine, and found a double eagle in the old out house. Ironically with out the metal detector.
Wow, that's a great find indeed...and in the outhouse too...nice. I hear theres still plenty of raw gold left throughout Arizona and the southwest. I've never had a chance to go detecting for it though. I remember once when I was about 10 years of age my father took me to the superstition mountains, and apparently I was obsessed with finding the 'Lost Dutchmans Mine' after my father had told me the story. So we spent a good half day looking for it....sadly...no luck.
With so many Romans found now you can pick them up for about 1USD and up here in Europe. I'm up to about 40 now, love 'em!
All kinds of conditions, mostly bronzes from 1-3C. AD. Might pick some up today if time and finances permit. Personally i've never dug a confirmed Roman, but seen plenty from here, so gotta buy 'em!
