Dear old Dad gave this to me years ago. A jewelry company named B G E took a perfectly good nickel and did this to it. grrrr... It is stamped BGE 925. Looked it up on the web. It means 92.5 percent silver content. Any idea if this necklace is worth, say 5 bucks ?
Well, to weigh it accurately I would have to take off the rusty old neck chain. Then remove the phoney diamonds. ( I suppose phony diamonds ). Then subtract 5 grams for the nickel itself. Gees Louise I don't know......martha
Seems easier to just leave it alone. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fr...1313&_nkw=Buffalo+nickel+necklace&_sacat=4196
Wow. Just went to the site that link provided. All kinds of buffalo nickel jewelry. Must have been popular back in the day.....martha
It was. Even the mint got into selling coin jewelry. I like the piece. Have the stones checked. If real, that's most of the value.
BGE is Bradford Exchange Group specifically Bradford Gold Exchange. It's .925 stirling silver, there's gold electroplating and yes, very likely cubic zirconia not diamonds because it's predominantly silver. Falls into the costume jewelry category really, absolutely worth $5. Wouldn't be surprised if you could sell it for $25-50 and for more than the silver in it is worth. It's a nice piece in my opinion. Maybe a bit over the top for some people but there's a market out there that like over the top costume jewelry type stuff.
Maybe some day. That web site that had all the buffalo nickel jewelry had pieces ranging from $15 to $40 . Mine is probably in that range also. But you never know till ya know....martha
I should put it on etsy for $85,000. I would drop the price to $1200.00 for somebody who seemed like a nice person !
Considering that Nickel is only worth about 25 cents, I would much rather have the jewelry than the nickel
I had to go look. No spoons on the site but lots of other stuff. The Mints site directs you to a different site to shop but I'm not sure they are even operating at this time.
I have some family members that are cherokee nation members and one of them love buffalo nickel jewelry. She'd probably pay $40-$50 for this.
