I got these in the mail today. 3 of them I dont know if they are real...I know I have said that before but I am learning here....lol. what do you all think, nice coins? I just realized there is a duplicate of one of the pics, I couldn't get them all in the post, will post other in reply. Some are crappy pics. I need to work on that, just excited to post them.
They look good. No obvious signs of being fakes. Looks like a nice score. Now you need to attribute them.
FYI they all appear to be authentic. Some nice reverse types, too. I don't want to spill the beans on attribution so I suggest you visit the roman imperial coins section on wildwinds.com and see which emperor(s) they represent. I won't be more specific than that.
Nice coins! There is one there that I am jealous of, but I won't say. I got my first few ancient coins as a gift from a member here I won't name him though. He may read this so I will let him comment. The captivating part is finding the emperors, and admiring the portraits. Keep reading because over time I find myself more and more intrigued. Only thing keeping me back is my budget
At your age, budget problems have a way of correcting themselves. Losing interest and stopping the search for knowledge will not. Some people get to an age and think they wasted time learning things that do not pay the bills. I prefer the group that loves to learn whatever it is and realizes it is more fun to learn than it is to think you know all there is worth knowing. I hope you can still enjoy the coins you have even after your budget allows a thousand time more.
Thanks for the replys and one day I will be posting coins with out so many questions and asking if they look real. I had asked since 3 of these cons came from cypres and I heard some coins from this seller on ebay are known fakes. I cant tell.
Thats funny, I am huge ozzy fan and I rember when he was missing and everyone looking for him...they said he shaved his head and was found in a monastery in asia....everyone was saying....wheres ozzy?
2 things....good credit and dont get in debt with credit where its not usefull....hard to do and most people, even me have messed up before...but since coin dealers take pay pall credit or some credit cards If I see some thing I like I can grab, I got a budget also....usually under 100 bucks a coin. Or even under 50 is my main budget. Also which coin you like?, if I ever decide to get rid of it...you get first crack at it.. or first denile as they say in the collecting business.
Congrats, @Everett Guy - all look like great coins - and no shortage of excuses to read about the emperors, their history, and the details of their coins. Mail is always more fun with an ancient coin - I like your title on this post. I am curious to ask if you have a favorite among your new coins? Here's an antoninianus that came in my mail this week and am still researching the attribution in detail (mint, date, RIC #, ...)... Aurelian, AD 270-275, AE antoninianus, Milan, end AD 272 – early AD 274 Obv: IMP C AVRELIANVS AVG, radiate and cuirassed bust of Aurelian right Rev: CONCORDIA MILITVM, emperor, togate, standing right, clasping hand of Concordia standing left; S* Ref: RIC temp #1494 (???)
To be totally honest, I got the coins in the mail, took pics and threw them in my coin safe. I have been so busy, I play Guitar in a heavy metal band and the Nov out door Festival we play was just given the ok to go on. I cant get the time to even finish my homework on what I bought, when I bid on them I went by what looked cool.... When i seen bids were low, like 14-17 i would bid 25.99 and won most of my coins that way.
