I have come across a penny and would like to know what you all think it would grade at. I know the reverse is a tad blurry but did not realize before placing in safety box. Thanks Wrexx
I'm not sure what's going with the obverse. Strange looking. A better image of the reverse would be cool.
I figured I would need to post a couple more pictures but I will not be able to until Monday since I placed it in the safety deposit box with the wishful thinking it might actually be worth getting graded. Guess it is another one for an air tight. Thanks all for taking a look and have a great Sunday
Is everyone referring to the obverse when you all say lamination. It almost looks like scratches but there's no scratch or as if something was on it and kept some areas from browning if that makes sense. I will take better pictures all the way around Monday so maybe that will help someone recognize what caused it. Thanks again
I have a 1909 VDB with similar appearance on only the obverse. It is caused by something, but it isn't lamination. I believe it is environmental damage. That being said, I think if it was sent in it would come back labeled as such. Maybe someone else has another opinion but.
No, it's isn't. It's better than that. More in the vicinity of VG10 to maybe not quite F12, I'd say. Here are the PCGS/Photograde standards. Scroll to the left. There's no way to say without seeing your coin. The coin in the original post here has some improper alloy mixing that creates a "woodgrain" pattern. They're affectionately referred to as "woodies" by some people.
