Somewhat reminiscent of Dellar's Darkener (sp?) No professional would be fooled by this stuff. The seller should be ashamed. Bad! Bad seller!!!
I bought some of that stuff. More or less to play around with and learn from. The stuff blows, it doesnt make the coin look like the one pictured. And each coin seems to do something different. Some coins, it just wipes away and never did a thing, others it turns black. But most coins just get an ugly weird wanna be brown color. I too agree that this stuff wouldnt fool anyone, lol. Ok but now, what is it??? I smelled it, I recognize the smell. Its some sort of household product that I know Ive smelled before. I tried tasting it too, it tastes horrible. The taste test did no good when trying to figure out what it is, its obviously not something that you would have tasted before. At first I thought it was some kind of toothpaste for dentures, but I really have no clue. So if anyone knows, I am really curious. I made like everyone I know smell it to see if they could figure out what it is.
I see nothing wrong with repatination. Now, if its used to cover up certain counterstamp (cough "copy" cough), then tsk tsk.
No, this stuff is green with the the consistancy and feel of toothpaste. It has little grits in it too. So Vaseline is not one of the ingredients. Its not fantastic either. This stuff doesnt have the smell, or taste of a cleaning product. The smell is soooo familiar though. Everyone that I had smell it all agree that they have smelled it before, but we just cant figure it out.
Apparently it has been around for 2 years because the pic of it is time stamped 12/16/08. I kinda want to try it on some pennies just to figure out what the smell DJ is talking about is.
I can't speak for my fellow CTers, but I, for one, would like to see some video of you eating this stuff, trying to figure out what it is.
HMMM. Interesting. Might be something like a salad dressing. Have you tried it on Lettuse? Occationally people may send out Arsenic or Cyanide to work on coins. If this is one or both of those, try some on a sandwich. Possibly would make a great additive for a mixed drink. Try some with Vodka. However, please don't ruin coins. Just drink the rest of that stuff.
