Found this 1988 D dime with what appears to be MD to the IGWT and the date/mint. What caught my attention initially was the mint mark. When I went to review the existing RPMs there were only the D/D South and D/D Southwest. If my dime was to have been an RPM it would be a D/D Northwest and none are on file. After further viewing the dime I noticed the "doubling" to the date and the IGWT, all seeming to spread/extent into the center of the coin. This is all MD, right? Or DDD? Or? There is nothing on file for a DDO/DDR for the 1988-D in Wexler or VarietyVista. Thanks! ~Rob
Thanks Paddy. I'm learning but for some reason this dime stood out from all of the ones I've checked, regarding the mint mark, and thought I'd educate myself by asking. ~Rob
From a deteriorated die. If you look at the field between the profile and the rim you see flow lines, sign of a well worn die
Ok, flow lines. I just learned something new. flow lines: when a coin is struck, the metal flows outward from the center, resulting in microscopic lines that add to the luster of a coin
