Whats the most you paid for a coin or set? If you think I'm digging for to much info just post the price.

    I'll go first $1,500.00 1916 D Merc.

Think you'll find that a lot of folks will not respond to this type of question. But I don't mind answering. Most I ever paid was $4000.

BTW...I agree with Doug...most folks keep this as private info.

Yeah, that 1916-D is a tough one! I just started a Mercury dime set, but I might not ever fill that spot. I've paid $90 for a coin and $98 for another one, but never over a hundred, yet.

I recently bought the 1921 high relief Peace Dollar. The problem is I now need the 1928.

I know that feeling I bought a 21 then a couple of weeks later I decided to piece a set together with what I had, then realized if I bought a complete set it would be easier and cheaper so I bought set XF or better set. So now I have 2 21's and one 28.

The most expensive coin I ever bought was also one of my better buys. It was a 1928 Peace Dollar slabbed at either AU-58 or MS-60 for $400.00. I don't remember the grade for sure, I cracked it open to put it in an album. It is a beautiful coin. One of the reasons I have been working on IHC's so long is the 1877 and 1907-S are out there somewhere for me. I'll keep looking, dilgently.

Call me paranoid, but a thread like this is like asking for criminals to rob your house (assuming you have your coins there). At this particular moment there are 153 viewers of CoinTalk and 100 are not members. Who can you trust?

Catbert... I am not really worried about that. None of my coins or currency is held at home anyway.
The only thing I have here are my books, loop and few mags and paper reports...LOL

Oh yeah one more thing....S&W 44 MAG with a crazy Marine Behind it LOL LOl LOL...

The most I paid, $2500. But I then traded that coin (and some cash) for another coin worth about $4k.

What's the point of this thread?

p.s. All criminals are invited [sic] over to my house, where they will find me, my guns, and my attack cat, Sassy, and no expensive coins. They are welcome to my Ike Dollar and Jeffereson Nickels Dansco's if they can get away them.
