Can anyone tell me when the Morgans officially obtained the grade of "prooflike"? For example when did TPG's start recognizing "PL" coins and setting a monetary value to these coins? Has it always been that way or just recently?
The term applies to all coins, not just Morgans. The term is listed in the 1st edition ANA guide which was published in 1977, long before the TPG's even existed (with 1 exception, ACG I think it was). So it is a pretty safe bet that the term has been around for 50 years or more.
