1826 looks like ag-3 $40-$60 1836 vg-details don't know the price i do not work with capped bust half's but that is what i think wait for more opinions.
Nice halves. I’m not an expert on that series and I am just spitballing. I think the 1836 should have a lettered edge. I think the 1826 may be a $70.00 coin and maybe just a bit more for the 1836.... Again though, I’m not an expert on this series and I could be a bit off.
I'd say 60-70 on each. Some might pay a bit more. The 26 has the reverse wear against it, and the 36 has the specks and a bit of cleaning showing. JMO
Guys I think my 1836 may be a fake. The 3 does not look like the 3 on the picture in there Red Book. Tell me if it is.
I’ll make a call out to our resident bust half expert @okbustchaser. He could authenticate that half for you.
I went back to my Redbook and brushed myself up on these. I think that the photo you see in your Redbook illustrates the new design that took place in 1836. The design changed halfway through the year and the photo you see is the new design. The most telling change was that “50 CENTS” was spelled out. The older design simply said “50 C.”.... Your half is the old design that is not illustrated in the Redbook..... I don’t see anything about your 1836 that causes me pause. I think you are comparing your old design half to a photo of a new design half and that’s throwing you off.
Side note- someone could have a bit of fun attributing that 1826. Enough wear that it could be challenging.
The 1826 looks to be O-110 and the 1836 is O-114. I would value either coin in the 50 dollar range retail---probably 40 or so selling to a dealer. Nice starter coins for the type.
