LordM Giveaway #45 (pick your prize)

Random drawing to be announced in early November, 2020.

Update: this contest is now CLOSED.

The winner was announced in Post #155.

This giveaway is brought to you by Hairball and Elvis.

Hi, and welcome to the latest giveaway. If you don't feel like reading this whole intro, at least read the bold text for the basics.

Winner will receive a $25 credit from my swapstock inventory, plus free shipping.

*Note: that page can be very slow to load sometimes, so allow it several seconds. Free worldwide shipping is included- there are no strings attached and no purchase is necessary. Coins are, however, subject to prior sale before the drawing ends, so keep an eye on the list, which will evolve as I add new stuff and take away sold stuff.

If your prize selection(s) do not tally up to exactly $25, I’ll send you the remaining balance via PayPal gift, or additional freebie coins, if you prefer. If your selection(s) tally up to more than $25, you will owe me the difference, obviously. Your prize here is the $25 credit plus free shipping.

    To enter:

    1. Put the words "entry post" at the top of your first (and only your first) post to this thread. You may make as many conversational posts as you like, but only one entry post per member.

Exception: if you are a member over at Collectors Universe, you may also enter on the tandem giveaway thread over there, in addition to your entry here. All of the entries from Collectors Universe will be tallied here, thereby giving you two chances in the drawing, if you post on both sites. (Do please let me know who you are if you have a different username over there, just so I'll know.)

    2. Add something else that is coin-related to your entry post. It can be anything you want. You do not need to include a photo, nor do you need to know anything about coins. Your post just has to be coin-related somehow. Tokens, medals, paper money, etc. are also fine.

Note: If you do not see anything that appeals to you, or would prefer me to ship the giveaway item to someone else, I am happy to do so.

I wouldn't even be offended if you chose to sell your prize(s) later- once they're yours, they're yours, to do with as you please. But if you're only wanting to cash out, I would prefer to send you a $20 PayPal gift rather than going through the effort of shipping a coin you'd only be selling anyway.

At my discretion, a $25 PayPal gift alternative applies to folks overseas, if I discover their selection(s) would be too expensive for me to ship from the USA.

Did you hit the '44 quarter with your digging tool, or was it already that way in the ground? I've had a few accidents over the years. Once I got an electronic pinpointer, that didn't happen quite as often. Back in the day, I put unfortunate gashes in an otherwise-nice 1913 Canadian large cent and a 1916-D Barber quarter.

Congrats on the Walker. It sure is fun to pop big silver, ain't it? Over the years, my dug silver halves from detecting were:
    • 1894-O Barber
    • 1926-S Oregon Trail commem
    • 1937-D & 1944 Walking Liberties
    • 1952-D Franklin
    Plus one clad 1971-D Kennedy.

Yes I did! My first silver that day. I was extremely careful after that find! :banghead:

It happens, even when you're being careful. Kinda heartbreaking, ain't it.

Your 1936 quarter reminds me of another statistic: in all my years of detecting, I never found a quarter from the 1930s. It just never happened. People dug them all around me, but I never got one. I found older ones (the oldest an 1855 with arrows), and plenty of newer ones. Just never any from the 'Thirties, for some reason.

I just collected all three emperors of the Flavian dynasty, if you don't consider the coin minted under Titus as a cop-out ;)

I am amazed how many civil war tokens were used as real money, especially since a penny really bought something back then more than a piec of Bazooka bubble gum when i was a boy...
