Hey guys new to coin roll hunting. I went to my bank and asked if they had any half dollar rolls. The teller said he had 6 I took them all and to my surprise when I got home and they were all silver coins 20 1965’s 16 Ben franklins and 84 1964’s. Man what a great feeling
once in a 100 year find there for some reason my banks never has half dollar rolls available it sucks.
the last time i asked for some the teller said there was a few available for the first time in forever said i'll take em when i looked they were half dollar wraps not rolls so disappointing almost had a heart attack for nothing.
I usually go to chase bank luckily there is 6 branches within a 20 minute drive and I have 3 of them order me 2 boxes a week. I just happen to go to this branch because my wife asked me to return something for her lol. Lucky for me I guess. I will be going back to that bank all the time now I can tell you that lol
You can take a look in one of the pictures and see the quarter rolls I was also coin roll hunting lol not looking for attention just excited and wanted to share with the community because it was really fun
Cowabunga! What a stupendous stroke of luck! I believe it- it still happens. I hit a good lick with a bunch of 40% Kennedies once (there was but a single 1964 90% in there). Have yet to hit any Walkers or Frankies. In fact, my bank seldom has half dollars at all, except for the odd handful of clad singles in the tellers' drawers from time to time. I forget to even ask.
And it is possible the people cashing them in don't even know about silver coins. You have to be about 60 years old to remembers actually having used silver coins in everyday commerce. A 20 or 30 year old who gets some rolls of coins passed down to him may not even consider whether they might be silver. To them they are just coins. For them all coins have always been coppernickel clad.
awesome!!! good for you!! I just started hunting rolls recently as well, it's definitely worth the work!
Thank you everybody was a very exciting day for me. I wish everybody out there the best of coin luck Cosimo
@Cosimo zingy, congratulations on the best day ever of CRH! The sad news I must now report is, you probably won't have another like it anytime soon. Before the pandemic, I was getting my bank to order the occasional bunch of halves for me. I found a smattering of 40%ers, and in one series of four boxes I found a couple dozen NIFC (not intended for circ) dates in the 2000s and a number of circulated proofs. Now I'm going to see if my bank can get me a roll of three-cent silvers... heheheh
