Found one last Monday in a roll, and here's a different one I found today > a 2007-S Montana Clad Proof. It was definitely in circulated shape - I had to check if SF made non-proof Quarters that year - but that wasn't until 2012. Aside from the circulation marks and tarnish around the edges, it has a proof-glossy background with all raised surfaces matte.
Always cool to find a proof in a roll. I always wondered way somebody would break open a proof set and dump em in circulation. Of course now it is an Impaired Proof. But still neat In your obverse photo, I see doubling on the front of his face. Is that just because of the photo, or is it really there? I did not find that listed in Variety vista. Just curious.
I looked at the coin with more magnification and I think that's just the way the light reflected from the source on the left. The left edge of all the raised surfaces, front and back, have a bit of that. the lighting is from the left, but reflected downward from directly overhead (Dennis Richard's setup), which is why the flat surfaces don't appear dark, like your coin.
