Hi all, I have made some changes to my website. Please take a look and provide some feedback on the design, content or anything else of interest. Thanks in advance https://www.historicalancientromancoins.com
Orfew you got some nice flavian coins. I wish you had other stuff too like sasanian, Parthian seleukid or even some second and third century Romans. I think you already collected enough of Flavians maybe time to start a new area?
@Orfew, this is already a stunning website. Replete with 'only the best' in the way of references, for each coin. But for those of us who aren't as deep into this as you are, I was wondering if maybe, eventually, you could put together a more complete bibliography. --I get it already; everyone on your level will intuitively know what each of the abbreviations refers to. And, not to mince words, bibliographies are an unqualified pain. Except (note my choice of language here), if you'd like to broaden interest the field (and who doesn't, yourself conspicuously included?), that might be one potentially relevant option. ...Granted, even if you did that, not much would substantively change for those of us who are otherwise stuck with Wildwinds and ancient copies of Sear. But we could get a better idea of what to aspire to.
Not at this point. I like them however and may add a few here and there. In fact in the last few weeks I have added some coins not in my focus area. I have added some lrbs and a drachm of Khusro II
Nice . Post them here specially the sasanian ones. I love the early sasanian coins from Ardashir to Yazdgird II they are very artistic. You can compare Ardashir and Shapur I coins to the Roman coins and you will see the craftsmanship of sasanian is much more advanced.
@Orfew, did you have those links up there all along? If so, looks like crow leftovers for breakfast tomorrow. :<}
Do not worry crow is not on the menu for tomorrow. After your excellent suggestion earlier today I typed up a page and posted a link. Thanks for suggesting something I should have thought of myself. This is exactly the kind of feedback I needed.
It is a very nice website. But if you're looking for honest feedback here is mine: -Correct me if I am missing it but I do not see a "menu" or links to your individual coins. I see the tags on the right but they are not particularly helpful. So basically I just have to click the numbers at the bottom of each page and browse - which looks like coins added as you acquired them- not in any historical or numismatic order. What if your main page had a few links like: "Coins of Domitian". "Coins of Vespasian", "Coins of Titus".. etc. So someone could target an area of your collection that they want to explore? Maybe a paragraph on the Emperor and maybe some notes on your interest in these coins, why the rarity or appeal, etc. Just an idea. -I also liked the previous red tray background. I thought that looked sharp... and warm. Great website .. all the info is there. How it is organized is just individual preference. I hope you do not mind this feedback.
Thanks very much for the thoughtful feedback. I very much appreciate your comments and I think your suggestions are excellent. It may take me a while to implement these but it gives me something to work towards. Again my thanks these ideas are exactly what I was looking for.
@Orfew.....Great site! I already use it a lot for reference..Especially the rarer types....... I was about to add the same, 'search feature' would be really useful. Purely aesthetics but maybe warmer background colours? and I don't know about others but the text seems light in colour and I have to strain slightly to read it? Maybe its just me. I know it's your passion but thanks for spending time putting this site together it's appreciated....Paul
Oh, Gosh gee whiz, Thanks, @Orfew. The sheer relief was doubled by your very kind words. An honor to have been of any (least) help. ...I've never had a website, and have no idea how much is involved. But a search function would be terrific, too. ...If I come across a non-fiction book without an index, it feels a little like being in a rowboat without oars.
