AV 1/24 Daric ND Halikarnassos Mint 6mm. 0.34g. Pixodarus 341-35BC Satrap of Karia obv: Apollo left wearing laurel wreath rev: Axe ex: Adams Collection
Nice score John . I'm always astonished to see these tiny coins (6 mm dia.) . They must have been engraved using some kind of magnification. This coin must have been struck before Alexander the Great overran Caria. Now that Fall is upon us I imagine you'll be spending more time with your collecting interests .
Thanks everyone! Yes, sunset is around 7:00, so I am down to a meager 12 hrs a day. I will loose 2 minutes @ day from now on Seems Pixodarus was a rare satrap, seeing Darius III allowed him to mint AV coins. Alexander brought war, misery to Karia.
