Purchased or pocket change? I still have my silver war nickels that I found in pocket change when I was a kid...

Nice! Those are the best kinds. Hope you save it like I did. I had mine for about 40 years..

It’s not going anywhere. Starting my coin collection with my 6 year old.....so it’ll go to him eventually.

Cool find! I still have the first one I found too! Double exciting that it is an S mint mark. I have a thing for S mint mark coins.

Yeah I was really excited about the S mint mark. I only have 2 other S mint mark coins.

    Scott,

Are you what we call around here a "YN" - meaning 'young numismatist?'

If you are under 21, I might just be able to add to your collection. I have a few old Jefferson war nickels that could use a new home.

CRH it is easiest to find Business strike S Nickels. I have LOTS of 1969 and 1970 S nickels, next is probably pennies. Quarters are harder. I have found a few S Business quarters CRH, and some Impaired proofs. But it always a thrill for me to run across an S while CRH Weather it is a Business or Proof. I don't CRH dimes, my eyes just can't handle it.

I am fairly new to it. It’s really something that my 6 year old talked me into. Now we are both hooked.

Maybe I could set him up with a couple or three war nickels of his own? No cost. Maybe a couple other interesting items as well.

    Message me to exchange information.

This thread is prompting me to dig out my old collection (things I collected when I was 10+ years old) and post some pics of my War Nickels. Of course, it has since been replaced with a full BU set of war nickels, but it is still cool to check out the "pocket change" ones...

    Hmmm, another weekend project...
