Have I been ripped off? I can't seem to find any information at all, even from the royal mint. one Crown, tombac, gold looking.
Minted in Gibraltar. They tend to chug out "commemorative" and "collector" coins. I can't say if you got ripped off or not since we don't know how much you paid. I CAN say that it is not something I would've paid a premium for.
FYI - WWII Canadian nickels from 1942-45 were made from this composition and listed as tombac nickels in many references
