It hasn't been polished--I bought it from the original owners, and they've had it in a coin tube for the longest time, and in the mint bag before that methinks. It's just really really reflective with a good strike on the obverse :) What makes you say AU?

No disrespect intended, but if you knew how many times I have heard the story that I got it from grandfather, great grandfather, original owners or what have you ..... I can only tell you what I see in the pics. And in the pics it has the look of a polished coin. I say Au because it appears there is wear on some of the hair.

This one looks polished to me. Look how smoothed that coin looks.

I see the lines now, look at your second pic, all those little lines are from rubbing.

here's what it will look like up close (just the lines, since this is a different coin)

I was referring to Lehigh's toned Peace Dollar.

How about some bigger photos without any photoshop adjustments before I reveal the grade.

This post will probably do very little to solve the debate about this coin but here is the photo anyway.

My opinion is that the coin is QT (questionably toned) and should not be graded by NGC or PCGS. While there are indicators of both NT & AT on this coin, I think Zaneman hit it right on the head when he said "it just doesn't look right." The colors, the pattern, the overall appearance just don't look right for a Peace Dollar. I could very well be wrong and the toning could be 100% NT, but for me the toning on this coin is not market acceptable. And if ICG agreed with me, then I am positive that NGC would bag the coin. The graders at PCGS would probably flip a coin to decide.;)

OK, now to more important matters, how the heck to you get this thing out of the holder. This thing is indestructible. Any advice on how to crack a coin out of an ICG holder would be appreciated. BTW, I don't own any saws of any kind.

Normally that would be funny, but since someone jumped off the roof of my casino two weeks ago, I am having trouble smiling.

It would probably work though, I saw what it did to him.
