The two newest members of the tribe. I have to wonder how the one got the RB designation. Their are a few carbon spots, but none distracting. I like the color contrast between the two coins - mark is very happy.
No problem - the 1881 is graded MS64RB. Usually on a coin this red you would see some spots of brown, in this case there are a few carbon spots but no real area of brown. Which is what surprised me when the coin came in. The 1884 is brown all the way - a very nice brown that I like. It is graded MS64BN.
Mark should be happy. I understand why they gave the 1884 an RB, it should be a brown but there's still some red there. Wait, you didn't mean the 81 got called an RB, did you? Because that would be WAY off the mark.
I cannot figure the 81 out either , looks red from here in AZ. Great coins Mark, nice solid additions !!!
Yes the pictures are accurate. I figured the auction pictures did not show the brown either - I was very surprised when I received the coin and got to looking at it. Cost me a little more, but it was worth it. Thanks for all the comments.
