Coin selling tips ( Help )

Hi Cointalk, I have a question considering selling coins...... As most of you know I am a younger cointalker. Lately I have been saving for a car... The hobby of collecting coins has got in the way a bit so it makes it kind of hard for saving, lol ... I am trying to make more money so I am beginning to sell some coins (I am keeping my best coins so no worries). if i sell coins i typically use my parents ebay account with my parents permission, but I want make sure I am making the most money I can .... . Other than taking good pictures and having a good description, do you guys have any advice?

You can never be sure what someone is willing to pay especially if you plan to keep the best coins for yourself. Please keep in mind that one person's treasure is another person's dreck.

 

Do what I did, keep all the coins, get a job and then buy a car. Making payments builds your credit rating. It worked for me so it should work for you.

 

I do, I cut grass around the neighborhood..... I am 15 so I cant really get a get a job till im 16 but I am very excited too..

 

I basically did the same thing. I picked apples and picked and sold blackberries at that age. I was 18 when I bought my first car. I kept all my coins but I stopped buying and saved for a down payment.

Hey, I'm a younger cointalker too! And you actually can get a job at 15. I literally applied for a job this morning, and I'm 14! Just look up on the internet: jobs for 15 year olds. There are dozens of them. And I believe McDonalds is one of them.

Hey, I'm 15 too, I've been looking on here for a while and finally decided to make an account here. I'm also saving up for a car, (trying to get an older one to work on) and What I've been doing is coin roll hunting rather than just buying. That cuts some of the cost, although I usually do cents so I can't really sell them unless they're really valuable.
Other than that, not sure how I can help you but I will respond with a follow up if I think of anything else.

 

Can I see the coins you are selling?

 

As a regular buyer on ebay, i can tell you some things that might help you sell it faster or for more money.

1) Have great feedback
2) accept returns
3) take good pictures
4) really good titles and product descriptions
5) set the auction to end at a good time of the day
6) when appropriate utilize buy it now and make an offer features to give people more options

On Ebay I had good luck selling on Thursday and Sunday nights.
Thursday bc lots of people get paid on Friday.
Sunday bc lots of eyes.

This is a good venue. You can also try USA Coin Book. I sell on there and the fee's are not as bad as ebay.

 

I was doing farm work at 14. Was doing odd jobs around the neighborhood from 8 on. Really mad money on heavy snowstorms and blizzards. And mowing lawns. Was also buying and flipping and refinishing antique furniture and coins too. And also sold pumpkins and other produce I grew. Yeah I was busy. By the time I was 18 I owned my own business. At 16 I was working stripping roofs for $10 an hour cash when minimum wage was $4. I was driving a beat up 84 Chevy pickup too I poo aid $500 for. Rusty but ran goid. Then I bought a 68 chevelle ss 396 too. Had that for a couple years and needed a new truck so I sold it

 

Wow! That's how it should be! I cut 8 lawns around the neighborhood and make $10 an hour......This year was tough though because there was a drought where im at but....... I have a lot saved up just not enough for a decent car.

 

Yeah, decent cars are hard to get for a good price; where I live AWD is a must, which is problematic seeing as I wanted to buy a '96 Corvette. Might have to settle for a Taurus until I can move out. What car are you looking to buy?

 

I live in pa, and awd is a must here too.... I may buy a Toyota Tacoma or a nice chevy truck.
