Die Clash? Maybe Not - but then what is it?

2018-D Pictured Rocks Obv-Crash.JPG 2018-D Pictured Rocks Flipped Rev-Crash.jpg Originally thought I had a distinct die clash, based on the way the obverse looks. But when I look at a mirror image of the reverse, next to it, it doesn't line up that way. So what is going on here?

I see a coin that is not a die clash but instead has a severe case of die deterioration.

    It's not a clash.

Perhaps @furryfrog02 is correct that it's some kind of die deterioration, but I don't know. My initial thoughts were that it was a planchet flaw of some kind, but on second look, I don't think that's quite right.

It's certainly interesting. There's something going on there.

Alas, I'm out of my depth when it comes to such error/variety topics.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

The obverse of the coin is displaying a severe case of "struck through grease." Its incredibly common and has no premium, and has the characteristic random pattern displayed here.

Sounds plausible enough to me, I reckon?
