I'm a YN coin collector and i'm on this forum with my father. You may have seen my post introducing myself on The Collectors Universe Forums. I am 9 years old,and I collect Lincoln cents and Indian head cents, Buffalo Nickels, V Nickels and Franklin Halves. I'm also putting together a Dansco 7070. I'm looking forward to learning from this forums.
Welcome to Coin Talk. I belong to Collectors Universe but I've learned more here on Coin Talk. Just my experience and not a knock on CU.
Well, you are my kinda guy! I love to see young collectors post. It reminds me of the magic I felt as a youngster when I held an old coin in my hand. Welcome to CT and the greatest hobby in the world.
Welcome to Cointalk! Glad to see a new face and someone so young interested in coin collecting. You'll learn a lot here. Now, collecting cents and nickels is alright, but can I introduce you to dimes? (Just kidding, I'm currently working on a Lincoln Cent collection too!)
Welcome to the neighborhood @Azjedi. It is great to see "young blood" getting into collecting. I hope you and your dad (and maybe the rest of the family) enjoy coin collecting and can bond over it. This is a great forum for learning and getting answers to your questions, when dad can't answer them. LOL
Welcome along this road of life. We were all young once and I for one, wish I was young again but I'm still young at heart.
Welcome to CT. One thing to remember, collect for the fun of it and the history. Don't fall into the trap by dealers that these coins can be used for investment purposes. In the meantime have fun and enjoy!
Listen up. Like @whopper64 and several others have said - don't do it for investment in anything other than your fun and satisfaction. If you have doubts look in the Red Book. There is a section that lists the mint price for sets and the current value. In almost all cases the current value is lower than the US Mint sale price. Have fun and stay in touch with the folks here.
Welcome to CT, young man! I started collecting at your age; that was 62 years ago, and I still love it. I hope you're still going strong when you reach my age. Steve
@Kentucky. I don't think my mental age is that high so thanks for the compliment. The OP in his introduction said he's 9 years old. (Chronologically). And at that age he's already talking about putting together a Dansco 7070.
My intent was to have the OP put his age in the information shown when you click an avatar. Like yours says 81...correct?
