A nice clean aluminum token of the 1987 celebration. I only know what's on the token.

Wasn’t he the conquistador that was searching for the fountain of youth?

Ponce de León was looking for the Fountain of Youth. DeSoto "discovered" the Mississippi River.

Desoto Square is a Mall in Bradenton Florida. The Desoto Celebration is also In Bradenton florida every april to honor their spanish heritage. They have a large illuminated night parade every april, and like Mardi Gras they hand out beads and tokens along the route. Not as big and well know as Gasparilla, but along the same lines. Parade sponsors have their own tokens made to give out along the parade route. That is what you have.

I played with coins in school, but lived in Florida, so Ponce de Leon was a familiar name. I'm a "Floridiot" by birth.

My mother lives in Bradenton now.
