Good morning! I came across this last night- literally just got it in a roll from the bank yesterday & I think my heart paused just a moment and right away I thought- it’s gotta be a fake! Just want to weigh in on everyone’s opinion before I even waste another moment of my time on it! I know there were copper plated pennies from that year- I just don’t know enough about them! Thanks in advance!!
A magnet is your friend . . . No copper plating. Either zinc coated steel or bronze / brass. I'm not metallurgist enough to know the difference. Z
The marks at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock may be from alligator clips used to plate it. As Z said, magnet test it
It was plated after it left the mint. The very rare copper 1943 cent was struck on standard copper cent planchets. These weigh 3.11 gms (+/- the tolerance) and are not magnetic. So, the fact that it stuck to a magnet indicates it's not authentic

What a neat find, real or not. It would have made my heart skip a beat, that's for sure. Keep on hunting as I believe you will find the golden egg.
