Please GTG of the 1944-D Jefferson Nickel shown below. I have attached a poll for you to cast your vote and you may select up to 4 different things: the numerical grade, 5 Full Steps, + designation, and * designation. As always, comments welcome and don't forget to vote in the poll, thanks!
I'm going to say MS66, No FS. Coin is very clean and has really good eye appeal. Steps are not close to full, I would probably say the steps are 5-3-1-5. I think the coin has a couple little spots that keep it from going 67 but has a wonderful pastel look.
I love it. A high in grade 67. Gorgeous toning. I am going all out, and saying 67+* (both designations). Not FS. Break in the bottom and middle step, but close.
MS 67 (not FS; no star) ....this one is very attractive and clean ....steps not there...and no star since NGC doesn't tend to give many for nickels
Pretty much...I'd have to see full scale rainbows before being comfortable guessing a nickel has a star.
Is it all nickels or just war nickels they are tough with the star? I can see war nickels being tough because there are some really beautiful and strongly colorful ones out there so they can be selective.
Like @Lehigh96 mentioned it's all nickels. Morgans (which they can be too lenient on) are the easiest to find with stars. Nickels and world coins are the two that I see stars the least (in terms of toning; there are a fair amount of proof nickels with one sided cameo or one sided deep cameo with stars).
We have two that guessed this one right. Personally, I feel the coin would look better in an MS67* holder than MS67+, but thats just me.
I’d like it even more as a 67+* Don’t take away the fact that it’s at the high end of the grade but let’s instead add to the fact that the eye appeal is worthy of a star. Nice coin sir.
