I think what we're saying David, is that grading is subjective and open to interpretation.

As far as MS70 coins go, IMO that's a nonexistent grade for classic coins, even looking at the king of surviving uncirculated coins, the Morgan Dollar, there's only TWO of those that are MS69s. What happens, I suppose, is that really choice coins, for what they are, get high grades.

Ever see some of the Bust and Capped coinage that gets MS66-67 grades? If they were, say, Franklin Halves they would be in 62-63 holders. Do I agree with it always? No. You're also dealing with a series, especially in key dates, that the TPGs tend to be quite forgiving to.

I am a lot less concerned with this coin getting a grade that's 1 or 2 points higher than its' technical grade (Because of stunning strike and eye appeal, which surely should count for a point or two) than all the ones that I have seen which had "FH" on the holder when they were not FHs.

Strike can be subjective, eye appeal certainly. But a Full Head is a Full Head, it's not like being a little bit pregnant.

Well that is a very clean coin. It's not the strike of the other one, but it has much fewer blemishes. What did it grade?

I totally agree here. Nice coin btw David! Much cleaner than mine. What do you guys think mine would grade?(posted several posts back). I'm pretty sure its MS-something, and it's definitely full head. Probably low MS. It sure looks purty in my type set. :)

It's raw and ungraded. Just the way I like it. I paid just over the equivalent of MS60 price for it. For all my comments on grading, I really don't care what my coins grade. I truly buy the coin, not the holder, or grade. I do have a lot of coins bought as XF or AU in my collection because they look as good as many that I've seen graded BU.

Well I personally get the most enjoyment out of my circulated SLQs as the slabbed MS stuff :)

Gave it thought, but no. I probably should have, but there's tougher coins at FUN that I am going to be bidding on I think. I have an MS65FH already in typical condition.

Best of luck at the auction.Perhaps you would consider a post about some of the coins you viewed, prices realized, etc- I think it would make interesting reading. Thanks.
