I sent a 1969-S proof quarter hoping that it could be a Repunched Mint Mark. However my TPG certified it as Double S Mint Mark. My question is - Is this coin still could be regarded as a RPM or is it completely different than a RPM? Could anybody please answer this question. Thank you. Sham
Which TPG? A photo would be good. Is this the same TPG you sent your 1968-S 5 Cent to last year? Not sure what they would be referring to, but a photo of the coin and holder will help. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/double-s-mint-mark-in-proof-coin.345607/
No idea what your grading company is, but there is a repunched mint mark, and there is a doubled die obverse. I don't know of any company calling and certifying either scenario as "Double S Mint Mark".... Sounds like they don't know what they are doing to me. for the doubled die obverse below is it depending on the cataloging system used: Fivaz Stanton Numbers: Old FS-1-028 New FS-01-1969S-101 Breen: 2252 Coneca: 1-O-I Crawford: CDDO-001 Wexler: WDDO-001 Coppercoins: 1969S-1DO-001 As far as the RPM theres a few different ones, but no legitimate TPG company would certify an RPM as "double S Mint Mark" http://www.varietyvista.com/02b LC RPMs Vol 2/RPMs 1969S.htm
Wexler has the only one I see . 1969-S 25¢ Pr WRPM-001 Description: S/S West Die Markers: Obverse: No prominent die markers. Reverse: No prominent die markers. Submitted By: John A. Wexler Cross References: None known
