I'll see if I can get some additional pictures. IMO it looks slightly better in hand than the pics I took captured. But, it's only a fair GTG with a variety of lighting levels and angles to consider. Also, is there a way to tell when a slab was created? Other than general ranges of dates due to the style of holder? I mean, does the initial series number on the slab indicate when it was assigned? In these pics, the scratches on the obverse at cheek, chin, and cap all seem to be on the slab, not the coin. And the cheek discoloration in one pic is a reflection from my pants, not a dark spot on the coin. The frosting on the reverse, likewise is on the slab, not the coin.
Hmm. I learned that the first digits actually refer to the type (ie Morgan dollar) and then the date/mintmark within the series. Amusingly enough, someone asked the same question about their 1881-S. Interesting: https://groups.google.com/forum/m/#!topic/rec.collecting.coins/lfKfJWG6E94
Last pix my side me guess 64+ up unless the scratch is on the we case. I'm not familiar with the old/new cases.
There isn't a way to get an exact date, just a range based on the holder generation. See here: https://www.pcgs.com/holders
Still a bit of time to get your guesses in. Here are some closeups of features that may help nail down the VAM: There are some raised dots just above the tips of the arrows on the reverse:
There's doubling on various letters of "United" in United States. The I in particular, has a noteworthy chip in the upper left of the cap atop the letter.
