It is a worn Die issue.
    Die Deterioration strike.

Not a Doubled Die at all.

    Here is some information

  4. Is there different degrees of doubling die ?
With that said and the grease strikes on Reverse United States and the mint mark (I think).. looks like an S to Me on Lincoln's coat . ?

I never heard of a doubling die..?

There are different classes of the Doubled Die variety. You can look at the following website and learn all about true Doubled Die varieties.
    http://doubleddie.com/58222.html

Then there is worthless doubling that has nothing at all to do with a true Doubled Die variety.
    Information provided here -

I suggest you educate yourself in the significant differences before you decide to start searching for true Doubled Dies.

    Peace

    definitely a ridge ring.

you'll learn that the MINT is in business to create coinage for commerce. They are not creating it (the circulated ones) for collectors. So the coins only have to be recognizable to cashiers, etc. ... perfection is not the name of the game here. So they run the dies as long as possible to create money for currency ... low quality requirements.

If you were able to have *all* the coins from one die set you would see nice crisp details on the first ones and from that point on they would start to deteriorate slowly and slowly (small pieces of metal banging on small pieces of metal creates wear). You could probably put them in bunches of early to later and later until the die dies. The example you have is on the tail end of die life.

  7. I find education is Overrated and often comes with a High Expense in both Time and $ .. I'd rather kick the Ol' Tires by asking a bunch of Questions and thennnn make an assessment based on that . That way it narrows down what I'm looking for and looking at . As it stands It seems to be just what you gentlemen say... A 'Ridge Ringer', You're welcome to Coin that phrase If you will See what I did there ☝️, Amazing lol I Know I know I'll stop .. Anyhow Thank You for answering My Question(s) . I do appreciate it with all being said , even the connotations to Educate . Appreciate all of IT ! So Yeah I found another 87 Ridge Ringer jobber n yeppp about same except for the Shmutz on Lincoln's Coat and the little o or c next to WE* . I'm not Really a Collector per say .. More of an Observer of things that do not seem off hence why I haven't looked in the mirror in over 15 years Yiiiikes ! Lol Enjoy Your day And don't forget to tip your waiter

It can be a lot cheaper than ignorance. (No insult intended, just the literal "lack of knowledge or information".)

Also, I think you're confusing "education" with "going to school". It's easy to have one without the other.

@AdamKilledAbel , without education how do you know the answers to your questions are correct?

I mean, all these "experts" might be tryna "Bullwinkle" you outta your never seen before rarity for 3 cents on the dollar.

That's an expensive lesson, and I see where you're going with that line of thinking . . . .

    I'll give you a nickel . . . .

The most important thing I learned on here is to separate what I want the coin to be and what the coin really is
