Well thank you.. that is very nice of you to say (and thanks to ALL for the nice comments). I know most of the coins are low grade but I have a daughter in University and another a year away from starting so I had to be very opportunistic and do a lot of horse trading to pull this off (and a wife who turns a blind eye to the odd purchase from time to time). I am very happy with the result... and frankly I thought I was years away from completing this - so ecstatic that the stars aligned.

I really love seeing everyone's full sets and partial sets... please keep them coming!!

I call mine a budget set:

they live in this case, and hanging on the wall in my office:

this complete set offered by CNG costs 50 times the price I paid:

In 2003, CNG sold a 12 Caesars aureus set for $30K, not including buyer's fee:

A bargain compared to the set in silver.

Haha I was thinking in swedish kronor for a while which would have been an insane bargain! :woot:

Just hung a couple of 14X11 framed photos on the home office wall (thanks Costco!).. it feels like a journey accomplished! Yet - also a beginning!

Yes couldn't ignore Commodus - to complete the story.

Upgrades in the future? Yes - but not now.. too many other areas to explore!

Great posters! It's difficult to decide which way to go, because there are so many more interesting coins to collect and fields to explore! Should you upgrade, or should you go on to further other areas? I chose the simple, practical approach: whatever is available first :)

Here's my adoptive-plate to add to this thread (I need to update this one by the way):

Next up.... SOLDIER EMERORS??? EMPRESSES??? SEVERANS DYNASTY??? Or maybe not even Roman Imperial?

Question... Do you hold yourself to one of an emperor or do you have more of one or two? And if you have more, how do you choose which is to make it on your poster or the face of that emperor on your 12 Caesars?

Yes good question.. I have a few coins of many of the Emperors listed, (not the rare Emperors of 69AD obviously) but these are my favorites - so they get the slot.
I am also a fan of larger bronzes .. I have a few nice denarii (Hadrian, Trajan, Marcus Aurelius, Commodus, etc) but I really have an affinity for the larger coins in-hand... even if the condition is less desirable to some... they're still tops for me.
I've been focusing on the larger folles of the 1st Tetrarchy lately.. and now own some really beautiful examples but after this "achievement" I plan on slowing down a bit on acquisitions... take a breather and refocus. I like "sets" and I like to have an achievable goal to work towards... however I never let a bargain slide... so we will see.
