How do people comment on the coins? Is this done with everybody sitting on the computer at the same time? I wanted to comment in sequence with others, but if I comment now it places the old coin on the end of the thread. I don't get this game so well Also does anyone know why this big space is being taken up after my last sentence on the posts?
This thread is nearly a year old. So, yes, this is "done with everybody sitting on the computer at the same time". Your space after the last sentence is there to accommodate your avatar and other info on the left. BTW, I like the 1912- of yours. That one is sharp.
Gotcha Thanks a lot, RLM for the response. Ironically the 1912 I cracked out applied a thin layer of 100% white petroleum (vaoline- to preserve) and resumitted. Still graded 64 RD. I say this in case you read the recent posts on "how to hold a coin" where Doug and Drusus and myself (mostly) debate this issue. The 1909 S is one of my favorite coins I own personally- I like woodgrain's- I think their cool looking
RLM, checked out your lincolns- very nice. I like the 23 S- hard to get high grade and the 09 S as well. Check out mine album- request friend or I will put you in if I know how?
I like that also. Look here to rad about it. Be sure to read through to the end. http://www.cointalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=41868
My pictures are like a 2 year old's drawing compared your Mona Lisas, but I enjoyed looking through this thread so much, and I wanted to be a part of it :smile. It has great history. I know my cents aren't key dates or anything, but I could afford them and I think they're beautiful. I couldn't take pictures of all of them, mainly because I was getting so frustrated with my dumb camera and what I have available for lighting. I do have a couple of questions, however, regarding each cent. The '55-S is in great shape, looks amazing, and was graded MS-65 RD by a fellow CT-er. Whether or not this is an accurate opinion, I do not know. However, I was wondering why in the world is the area around Lincoln bulging out so much?? The marks you see around him are like an elevated surface, or so it seems. Any thoughts? Second question: The '45 is in an ANACS holder graded MS-63 RED. When I asked the seller about the spots on the reverse, they stated that they were there when he purchased the coin from someone else that had it slabbed. What should I do about this coin?? Is it just going to get worse? Is there anything I can do? I thought that maybe taking the coin out would decrease its value even more, since it wouldn't be in its holder, but I don't know. What do you guys think? -Peter
It's mint state brown, the reverse hazing you see from 1:00 thru 5:00 is toning, I cannot capture the color in pics. In hand it's a beauty. the obverse has wood, but it's not a true woody. An odd planchet mix I guess.
Can't remember if I have posted one before, anyway this is a new one this week. I am so happy not too many people are collecting these, although the prices have escalated in the last year.
