I saw this posted on another forum and wanted to share here. eBay has $25 off $25.01 coupons for certain eBay members. It didn't work for me, but some others reported that it did work. Coins aren't included but other categories are (including collectibles where there are coins listed). The code is HAPPY25 https://forums.collectors.com/discussion/1043284/ebays-giving-out-25-00-coupons
Add some random item over $25 to your cart (not from the coins category as that is excluded for all). Go to the checkout screen and enter the coupon. It will either take it or say the code does not work. You don't have to buy the item-just remove it from your cart after checking the coupon code. And if the coupon code does work, you can remove the code from your cart (uncheck a box), then remove the test item, and go back to find the item you do want to buy (and reenter the code at that point).
This says 9/10/20 https://www.doctorofcredit.com/ymmv-ebay-25-off-25-01-with-promo-code-happy25/ I would test it now as sometimes I've seen eBay end coupons early (probably once some predetermined amount of people used it).
Thanks for the heads-up -- it was waiting in my eBay messages. The one I got said "A special $25 coupon just for our first members" (I joined in 1998), and gave a little graphical history of first purchase/sale/etc, categories where I've sold, and categories where I've bought. No good on Coins and Paper Money, of course, which is where I've done (according to them) over 90% of my lifetime spending.
Interesting. I also have been a member since 1998. I'll need to check my messages. I haven't been very active on that site lately however. Z
There is some silver and coins listed in other categories (or you could go for some other random needed/wanted item). I can point you to the silver coins-if needed.
Thanks, but I'll leave them for others. There are a (very) few other things I occasionally buy on eBay, and I'll probably go look for one of those.
I joined eBay in 1997 and it shows my first purchase in 2002....so they must have been missing some data from Back then. Couldn’t get any coins with it so I used it to buy a Ravi Shankar album I have my eye on. Free eBay purchases are always nice.
They purged a bunch of old feedbacks and purchase histories when they restructured the feedback system to disallow leaving negatives or neutral for "paying buyers." That sucked because I lost hundreds of positives. It also sucks because you could no longer leave a negative for scamming buyers. Z
Hmm. I still seem to have all my old feedbacks -- including several dozen I accumulated for a joke auction, back when anybody could leave feedback for anybody, whether or not they'd bought or sold. (That's how I got my one and only non-positive.)
Thank you for posting this! I just checked on eBay and got the coupon! It's in my "Messages". I'm going to buy some free stuff! Woohoo! It expires 9/10 - that gives me plenty of time to find some things I didn't know I needed!
I'll have to go back and check again. I remember being over 1,000 at one point then dropping to around 580. I looked to see what the oldest was, but they make feedback research a lot more cumbersome these days.
