So I bought a pair of $40.00 metal detectors for my 5 year old son and 12 year old daughter to try and get them involved with the sport. My daughter was not to interested at first, but then my son found a coin, now that's all he wants to do and now my daughter also. For his 5th birthday we went camping and this is what they found around our camp alone. I am so proud of them both and it looks like I have a couple of detecting buddies.
Sounds great and a wonderful way to get them interested in something outside. Hope you all have lots of fun and that gets them interested in the hobby.
Tell them both congrats! A wonderful way to spend quality time with your children. Kudos to you for doing this.
Hunter, If you want some real fun, salt the area (w/ a couple of silver dimes/quarters) that the kiddos will be hunting....Then stand back with your 'camera' ready to record the high-jinks. (Danger, you may just create a couple of Mini-gremlins) J.T.
That's funny because for my son's birthday I just finished drawing a treasure map and added a piece of metal pirate treasure that I buried on one side of our property that he has to detect and follow answering riddles to find the treasure chest buried in a coffee can on the other side of the property.
