I just had a thought while loking over some threads. While looking at topics I noticed a certain user as the latest poster and instantly clicked on that thread to read their comment.

I won't mention any names, but there are several members here that I really respect their opinion and am gravitated to their posts. There are a lot of members that seem to specialize in certain areas and appear to really know their stuff.

Have you ever noticed yourself pulled to a particular thread becase of certain peoples posts?

Guess I haven't been here long enough to reach that point but I do respect the knowledge that can be earned from studying this site. There are several very helpful people here. Best wishes, Mike.

I would have any time left If I check all the threads that GD comments on- But when I see him give his opinion on a grade or a questionable coin I always look.

Absolutely, out of respect I won't say any names, but I also find I will go to a topic if a friend has posted there.

    I can't mention names, Viper.

But I often look first at certain posters comments, Viper.

Some people just seem to post intelligently, Viper.

And sometimes they are actually correct, Viper.

But, often they seem logical, Viper.

And sometimes they make no sense, Ruben.

Sometimes. But I have to admit that I generally read any thread with a subject that interests me, and inevitably people with an incredible depth of knowledge that surpasses mine show up.

Yes, I try to follow certain members that I know are extremely knowledgable&reasonable or that have similar collecting interests. I read as much as I can and appreciate the opportunity to get in their heads a little :)

All kidding aside, yes! I tend to first check out the topics that seem interesting but make note of certain posters no matter what the topic. After I have checked out the topics of interest, I then check out what those posters had to say about a topic even if has little interest to me.

You should post two polls. Those that know what they're talking about and those that don't. Another poll could be those that agreed with the pollster in the first place and those that didn't. Seriously though I also regard some of the people that post here in very regard, most actually. My hat is off to very many of you. You get a lot of different points of view that are great.

    Frank, that was too funny.

But yes, I sometimes go to threads started or commented on buy those whose opinions I respect and to those that are just interesting. When I post a coin for opinions I always wait for Doug to comment. Can't help it.

I usually wait for the opinions of the Lincoln guys and gals around here.

I must admitt that I do too. But I don't agree with him %100 of the time. When it comes to something like grading though, nobody is going to always agree.

I have learned alot here, from alot of people, some of whom aren't around here anymore. It would be hard for me to single out one, or even a few people here who I have thought of as mentors. The collective knowledge of the entire forum is just amazing.

The dangerous thing about skipping certain posts/threads is that you don't know what everyone knows.

A good example are the recent threads on Ikes where someone (forget who) turned out to be a big expert on Ikes.

Yes, I have checked out certain posts when specific people have posted.

At this point -- I would give my left arm to be able to spend some time with some of the folks here to get a better education on what is important in this hobby. Unfortunately for me, with my home location being quite a ways from my work, I don't have a lot of free time to dedicate to the study of things in this hobby that I really need to.....and my recent illness has made it more difficult to do many things. So I read what I can when I can, which lately isn't too much and follow the posts here. I am learning things and hope that once I am felling a lot better I can start spending more time educating myself and hopefully contributing in some meaningful way.

Thanks for listening to my ramblings....

One of this years greatest treats has been watching JeanKay grow into a forensic specialist as to Lincoln varietys, spotting them and attributing them. It is an art and a challange, and she has done well !

It takes patience and a drive that most do not have. JeanKay may well be one of those specialist's that we have at our disposal when we need help. If she every writes a book, I will be in line for an autographed copy.

I admit - I am more likely to read a thread when certain members post to it. I do not have enough time to read everything - especially now that it switched to cointalk.com I can't even peak in from work. So I pick and choose. I don't mind posting an opinion - sometimes I learn more from being wrong that right. Besides I like to get my estimate of grade in before the pro's do - then I can see how I did. :)
