1890s Morgan - VAM 55?

This VAM is noted for a high 0 in the date, as well as a gap in Lady Liberty's lips. The mintmark on mine is a bit mashed, but that also seems to be in common on the discovery coin.

Does not look like a 55 - but your pictures need to be much better to have a board like this to help you out with.
Pictures need to be straight down not angled at the coin. Lights on both sides of the coin as you are picturing.
    Might be a 6 .. Happy hunting :)

Coin has a rather dark patina, so angling it was an attempt to show features with a bit of parallax. The scope shots show the key identifiers on the VAM-55 though (unless there's another area where a closeup is needed?)

Straight down at the date position
Straight down at the Mint mark position
    "S" placement looks off for a V55

Now just a close up of the ZERO in 1890
Taking it sidewise so the date is on your right side and shooting the picture
    straight down as before.
Hair left, Face down, date right, bonnet up.

    Take a good look
It looks like a VAM-14 to me.

Here you go. The magnified images are flipped by the scope.

I agree with @jgrinz mintmark slightly high and tilted, loops of MM filled in. Can't see from your pics if there is slight doubling of the 0 in 1890. VAM 14

I don't reallybsee any doubling there either. Will check the reference and compare again.

    (It says slight doubling)
Your pictures do not have the resolution to tell.

I do not think that was ever in question. I would keep them because of the toning. The question was of VAM variety which is in question.

I'm not seeing it through the scope. There is a whisker inside the upper 10% of the 0 in 1890. But no doubling that I can see.

Some new pics with the endoscope. Found some scratches that I thought were die cracks until I examined them closer. Definitely an example of how a dark patina can hide some surprises.
