Nice coins, but I'll second the staples warning. These coins are relatively "soft".

I've always been the "daring type."

More curious about your thoughts on the 1911 and 1908 however.

    I have lingering thoughts, I always do . . . . . .

I don't have one, I bought my brother one to replace a stolen one he used to carry around in his wallet.

    Potentially counterfeit?

That's one of the opinions I was looking for. Other would be grade / condition.

I’ll tell you @ZoidMeister..... The gold quarter and half eagles are among my most favorite coins. And I own a tribe. Here’s the deal. Most counterfeit US coins are fairly easy to spot. But the counterfeiters seemed to excel on the gold Indians. I don’t know why that is and it scares the pants off me but I won’t render an opinion on an Indian that isn’t in my hand. Some fakes are just really that good and sadly, these well done fakes seem to have been around quite some time. But I do not feel yours are fakes. And honestly, that’s just a pit of my gut reaction. I can’t be confident in them if they aren’t in my hands.

Oh. I saw someone posting about this exact subject, albeit was with bullion rounds.

@Ana Silverbell , your thoughts on the two above?

Since gold is a very dense metal, the diameter, thickness and weight would be a pretty fair indication of authenticity.

I will need to get that measured. I picked up a few of these a while back. I think I'm into them at five fifty each . . . . .

Is that $5.50 or $550? One would seem to virtually guarantee that it was counterfeit and the other would be quite a bit over market value (as long as all are common dates).

At $550 without no guarantee of authenticity, I'm going to say that OP got scammed.

Assuming that 1911 isn't a D, these are less than $400 retail from what I can see on e-bay, and $236 melt.

Nooooooo!! When and who did you buy from? Can you return? It seems like unless you got some really high grades or special dates you are losing out on this deal :(

    Got them a couple years back . . . . . .

Don't even know if the seller is still around. Covid changes everything lately. I think I got 55 of them.

    They look really good, don't they? Scary good . . . . .

Gold plate over some gray base metal - "german silver" is how they were described. The reverse of that 1908 has a little environmental damage on it. Most are clean.

With all the discussions I've seen on counterfeits of late, I thought I would share these. They are "Jeweler's Grade Tribute Coins." Not sure their country of origin, but I am probably thinking they're from China as well. Each one stamped conspicuously "COPY" on the reverse. Yes, I've got five fifty into each one. $5.50 that is.

    Thought I would share.
