Long time since I posted, hope you're all well and safe out there in this difficult time.

Last time I visited my parents I gathered my ancient coin collection from childhood and found some interesting pieces, and some that I'm not really sure about but maybe could get some help if someone knows more about them. A modest collection but a good start for a kid.

In the beginning of this years I started to collect again. As I'm now collecting Flavians it was fun to see that my very first ancient coin, which I had forgotten about is a Judea Capta. Not a bad start for a nine year old kid!

    I believe it's rare?

As a kid I thought this one came to Sweden where I live with the vikings. At least I was told so by the coin dealer.

Wow, those are some very nice coins -- a whole lot better-looking than the handful of wretched LRB's that I bought as a child of 8 or 9 from a small coin shop a few blocks from where I lived. (I didn't buy another ancient coin for about 20 years after that -- only British and other world coins -- and didn't start collecting ancients actively for still another 30+ years!)

    Thank you!

Interesting read I was also thinking that it doesn't add up that Domitian minted this coin as he didn't participate in the siege of Jerusalem. On the other hand he's a Flavian and it's propaganda as some already have stated so who knows?

College is still early I think, and there's no rules for when to start the most important is that you enjoy the hobby.

Thanks! Well as long as you enjoy the hobby, that's the important thing.

    Thanks! :)

Oh nice! Thanks, will add that information to that coin!

I was lucky to live close to a well renowned coin dealer. I din't buy much but he showed me lots of coins mainly Swedish. I think he thought it fun with someone so young interested.

Nice one! Your's better than mine. :)

That collection was acquired until I stopped at 15 so quite many years, not so many coins. I was also lucky to get coins to start from my best friend's father. We used to lurke around on second hand markets trying to find "rare ones". The denarii from Trajan Decius and the worst of the Constantines that I've posted were found at such markets. But my main collection was Swedish coins as roman and greek was much harder to find. Internet have changed that, it's a completely different field today from when I started.
