Thanks to you my friend. These old wheat cents were sitting in albums for 50 or 60 years. I just started to look close at them. I didn't realize how nice some of them are. Quite a bit of fun.

 

I’m sure glad you’re giving them some fresh air and sharing them with us.

This 1935 D looks nice and the 1936 S is in the acceptable range. From my LWC album.

 

I've tossed Wheats in the box without a 2nd glance , for 45 yrs . Oughtta' go thru' them some day ...

 

@Inspector43 I just happened to be looking at my IHC spreadsheet then noticed this listing of duplicate, triplicate etc Lincolns. It is not at all a complete list, just one that is edited when I think about it. I have no idea how many Wheat Cents I have.

In looking over this list, though, I was struck by the fact that I have more 1916S Lincolns than any others. Would the real Lincoln experts out there care to comment on why this might be? These are from just incidental culling of my change over the past few decades.

@LA_Geezer The 1919 S dominates my duplicates. Perhaps because it was a very high mintage coin. But, I have found that there always has been a unconscious effort by collectors to see favor in S Mint coins. I think I pulled them out just because we think the S Mints coins will someday be more valuable. Look at 1908 and 1909 S Mints. Even today, I have tubes of wheat Cents segregated with S Mint having their own tubes.

 

Kinda strange by not really My #1 Whitman book is do today from Amazon.
Picking out the best 30's and 40 pennies will be hard and tedious as I have a bunch.
The key dates not so much as there's not to many in my collection.
My 2 cent's worth of wheat backs.

 

Here are two more nice coins from my set. 1940 S and a 1941 D. Yes, they were found in circulation and long time ago.

These are some nice strong "chocolate" wheaties!
Could the pic on a few playing with the color's but I did get some rolls of 30's that were all on the coco side of color which these remind me of.

 

There are some very nice looking LWC's out there. They may not be worth a fortune, but, they are beautiful coins and deserve to be exposed to the collecting world. Show yours as you go through them.
