what do you think about colorized coins? do you see them as tacky and ugly, or attractive? I want to know! Thank You.
Checked "dislike". I strongly dislike third party colorized coins, but even if the color is used as part of the official (mint) design, I don't appreciate it ... Christian
Sometimes to complete a set, one can't help but have buy a colorized coin. My Pandas have four years that their mint colorized the proof Pandas... so in order to have a complete set, I have to include these in my set. They look alright, but nothing thrilling, lol. The years I have so far are 1997, 98 and 99. There is also a colorized proof for 2001 that I haven't obtained yet. That said, those particular proof Pandas will rise in numismatic value. I stay away from post mint colorized coins such as the colorized State Quarters as they hold no value other than face. They're pretty but that's all. I therefore have my reasons for buying or not buying colorized coins so I checked "neutral". Some of the Canada colorized coins (done at their mint) I like but wouldn't buy them.
I checked dislike...I don't like colorized coins. Sometimes various foreign mints release a colorized coin (from the mint) that looks nice...and those are OK. But, third party colorized coins destroy any value the coin may have had. I don't like those.
I dislike them. I can't check "hate" because I own a few colorized silver rounds, and ASEs, but that's only because I bought them for the bullion value, not for the artistry.
I checked dislike also. I don't like them, and I probably won't buy one unless it is cheap and I can resell it quickly, or if I like that particular coin. Phoenix
I don't care for the word "hate" because it is so strong, and I don't hate most things, but I and probably others have strong feelings on this.
Regardless, I dislike the colorizing of any US coin. Natual toning is beautiful in 99% of the time. IMHO THEY LOOK CHEAP AND ADULTERATED.---zg OBAMA Ugh!!
I dislike them very much. Paint doesn't belong on coins, just like musturd doesn't belong on french fries. I dont buy or will ever buy colorized coins.
Agreed Ruben, Post mint painted--hate em. Mint made with color, I like very much. Toned coins---LOVE EM.
I voted "hate them". But then I saw this... http://www.geminiauction.com/detail...vacs Contorniate & Tessera Collection&search=
