Yes, 1948. My aunt got me started with an 1883 w/o cents and an 1885 nickel.

That would be nice but I can't imagine what it would be. I hope you fellow CT's don't think I am being snooty or bragging. I am able to either trade or purchase to fill some holes in my sets like the 2 IHC's and 5 LWC's that I never could find in circulation. But, I open the albums and look at what I have and can't make myself do it. It would be like giving them some step brothers and sisters. So, I collect newer coins and my friends and children will just have to understand. BTW, I will trade for them if I get a chance.

5000 is great but where's the coin to help you celebrate? Lol

To celebrate I my dig in to my IHC folder and straighten it out. You can see it is in a Whitman Copyright 1940 folder that is covered in Scotch Tape. I can't decide to get a new folder. My wife says to leave it alone as it very clearly represents my life and my hobby. My life? Yes, all ragged and covered with tape and stiches. Do I get a new album or do I not?

You deserve everyone of those. Your fun. Your human like. And you are not new to the game. You and other REAL coin collector make Cointalk a hit I personally probably enjoyed you and never hit like a enough. An honor not to be taken likely

Thanks @Cheech9712 I collected for 70 years before I found this forum. There are some real nice and learned folks here. The friendships make my days out in the middle of Nowhere Texas much more enjoyable. Thanks for all the support.

For some of you that like coin stories I'll tell about how I came upon such a complete IHC. There were several Mom & Pop stores in my neighborhood. I knew all the owners and they trusted me. Many times I would work for them.

One store about a block from the house was owned by an old man named Carl. His brother Art, who was even older, worked there. He probably worked there before the cent was changed from IHC to LWC. He really liked the IHC's he kept every one he came across. He kept them in coffee cans hidden in the basement.

When I worked there I had to go in the basement quite often. I never touched his IHC's. He knew I was a collector and would sometimes let me dump out a can and pick a few. I always did what I could to help him. He lived across the street and I would stop to talk and help him and his sister. That, along with the fact that the IHC was still a regular find in change, provided me with the near complete set.

I can't make myself upgrade any of it. Old Art and Carl are still a part of it.
