Has anyone purchased coins from a Ebay Seller legion-coins? There is one he has up at the moment that I really want to get but have a bit of hesitation on ebay.
Thank you, already have the list bookmarked and his name isnt on there but just wanted to see if any of the other users here had purchased items from him before or heard anything through the grapevine.
To be clear, I browse a lot of sellers on eBay, and I would like to be sure on this one, because the name 'legion-coins' looks very familiar. I can't remember if it was because it was possible fakes being sold, but there was something that rubbed me wrong about this particular seller. IIRC, it was as if (in my own opinion) that some of the coins seemed legit and some seemed questionable. Perhaps others may be able to chime in, as I wouldn't want to unduly condemn a seller merely on a spotty recollection. EDIT: I used eBay's 'advanced search' feature to find some of legion-coins'offerings. Some opinions? I dunno. I get enough of a funny feeling about these to wanna take a pass.
I’m pretty good about figuring out if they are legitimate sellers. Can you link to this seller please so I can give you my opinion?
If you go to eBay, click the word "Advanced" next to the blue Search button, you'll come to the advanced search page. Scroll down until you see the "Sellers" option, click "Only show items from" and enter the name "legion-coins". You'll get these results.
I would suggest if you buy from a new dealer for any sort of significant raw purchase you use the NGC expert review for $5. Also, i personally wont buy from a seller that does not accept returns on a coin. My advice is that a small purchase is likely OK based on how long the seller has had an account and feedback rates/reviews.
Thats what I'm currently weighing out at the moment, the seller does have good reviews over a 5-6 year span. Which is more of a lengthy time than most bad sellers tend to last, specially when selling counterfeits. Or at the bare minimum would have 1-2 negative to natural reviews. The No Returns policy for me is kind of hit or miss, as I've sold items on ebay as No Return soley for the fact I want to get rid of it and make $$$ without any issues.
I have 2500 positive feedbacks with no negatives and no neutrals and I NEVER allow returns. I also block folks who attempt to extort me to gain rebates or other reductions in price based on imaginary or trivial defects. Given your desire to slam folks without cause and obsessive fear of being cheated I strongly suggest that you either stop collecting or ONLY purchase coins in hand or from high end auction houses. Asking for recommendations of honest sellers is completely acceptable in my opinion. Zeroing in on one and questioning his integrity is not
Who is slamming someone? Seems like he is just doing some due diligence, and in fact pointed out the positive feedback and long standing membership to ebay the seller had.
I have sold ancient coins on eBay for over 20 years, and I have ALWAYS offered unconditional returns along with a lifetime authenticity guarantee. I've sold over a thousand coins via eBay. Knock on wood, but so far I have had only one coin returned--an AE4 of Flavius Victor that the buyer returned because he didn't realize that it was so small. I refunded his money and resold the coin about a week later.
I also want to add that with over 1,000 coin sales on eBay, I have had probably 3 or 4 people, at most, try to rip me off. I'm actually surprised with how few scammers I've had to deal with. Almost all the people I've dealt with have been honest, and almost all the sales have gone smoothly. Of course, I'm selling coins, not buying them.
Most are correct check ebay stats on the seller and if you continue to feel reluctant follow your conscience. Good luck
Some e-bay sellers don't offer returns because it is such a pain in the posterior, in those cases e-bay backs you up if something is really wrong instead of things like "The dealer didn't say this coin was so small"
I don't know why, but the name sounds very familiar to me. I may have bought a coin from them at some point. If so, it must have been a while ago, because I haven't bought anything on ebay for a couple of years. To be sure, I'd have to go through all my receipts/invoices, because my personal catalog of my ancient coins doesn't always identify the sellers. Is this seller located in Illinois or Ohio, by any chance? That sticks in my mind for some reason.
It looks like San Francisco, CA. I feel like I've perused his list of sale items previously, but never added him to my saved sellers list. No items in there scare me as to not purchase from him. But I'm more of a "bottom feeder" in many respects.
