    beware of free shipping

beware of free shipping by mint presidential dollars offered. some of the lazy u.p.s. delivery man just left the package outside the downstairs main door of high rise condominium. if you are not there to receive it or not at home at that time. well the package worth at least $250.00 and up. and it is cash. some people might take it. mine worth $1,500.00. think about it. i was not at home and my relative just came home from work at 8:30 p.m. she saw it and give it to me when i went home. so scarcely.

Whoa elaine....the UPS guy is leaving pkgs in a condo-high traffic area? Definately a no no. Driver should know better. That is not company policy. I worked 30 years (retired) for the company. I know....complain.

    Well Elaine

i doing my part to help, so far since the Washingtons have come out

I've gone thru & spent 1500 Washingtons,500 Adams, 1700 Jeffersons, 1500 Madisons, 1000 Monroes, 1000 John Quincy Adams and 1000 Jacksons for a grand total of 8200 and this an estimate - its amazing were they all went ????

this week i was suppose to receive the new Van Buren but my bank got a 1000 box of mix-up ones of SBA's, Sac's and toned Presidents thru Madisons. oh well i guess i can look for the wounded eagles and the evasive Cheerios Sac's

2 for 1 sales would do it.

I use them for allowance for the kis, tips, newspapers and candy, cab fare, coffee in the morning....and of course vending machines and the subway

Frankly I do not care for the Presidential dollars. I think they are ugly and I don't even save them if I chance across one. I don't even like spending them, because a lot of people are not familiar with them.

It is actually easier to spend $2 bills, which I do frequently - people like them.

People in my part of the country (Wisconsin) seemed to have accepted these dollar coins, and recognize them. They do not circulate nearly as well as dollar bills, unless you deal with vending machines. If I put a twenty in the change machine at work, I get a handful. I bet if the mint produced a five dollar coin, this vending machine company would use them. Nice to see one company doing its part!!!

Went to a Wacovia bank today, live in the Tampa, FL area. The bank had signs all over the place to include the drive-up windows that they have the pres. dollars. Maybe slowly but surely they will catch-on. Eliminate the one dollar paper will always be the answer. The government won't do that because it doesn't want to upset the public, but I could make a pretty big list of things they do or don't do that really upsets the public.

I could not agree more. Eliminating the $1 bill is the only way to make the public use these coins. Studies have shown it would save the treasury billions a year. And hey, it has worked for Canada! Of course being a coin collector, I have a biased opinion.

    can't do it

even free shipping and selling at face value. the mint simply can not sell all the prez coins. the mint even limit two box of 250 coin each per family. what a stupid decision?.

first time i used the dollar coins and refuse to accept by a store. they don't accept dollar coin and cent. period. have you encounter this before?. does the store have the right not to accept dollar coin and cent?. does the mint have imposed any penalty on this type of behavior?.

Coin of the realm, legal tender....If they don't take your money then do you get the item gratis? I think I'd make a scene, but then again, I'm just a "rube" from the New York Metropolitan area.

My favorite is the first video..."you think this is money?"

I'm not in the US but it sounds pretty normal to me. Usually the concept of legal tender applies to debt, not to purchases you intend to make. Would make sense though to have a sign next to the cashier's desk about what means of payment are (not) accepted.

I don't know Christian, I suppose we could all get int a big debate about this. All I know is that if I walk into a place of business they usually have no problem taking my money.....:D
