Ok, you're right...he didn't say it was from a reeded edge...What he did say, in a nice manner, was that you don't know what you are looking at. Not sure how I am embarrassing myself again since I wasn't embarrassed to begin with AND I was correct, unlike you, as to the damage on your coin. @cpm9ball is correct, you do need to read/study more.
It doesn't matter what inference you put on it, you numpty. You said that everybody in the thread said it, and they did not. So QED, you were not correct. Ipso facto. Stop being a little snowflake, and man-up.
You admitted that you were wrong and that I was right, that's good enough. You need to learn when you are beaten it seems, lol. Stop throwing teddy out of the pram each time you get pummeled.
As a new member I found WEBSITE error ref.com to be an excellent resource even for non-error references, varietiesvista (?),...connect with Wiles , Weinberg, Wexler, and Paddyman98...stay on the forum with a renewed commitment to learning....
I seriously doubt there is anything furryfg could teach anyone. Are you one of his metalwork buddies?
I've been on this forum for ~7 years. I've helped countless people with all kinds of questions. I've also dealt with my fair share of morons and trolls. I haven't decided which you are yet. Perhaps a bit of column A and a bit of column B.
@DoubleDiamond IMO, you are squandering a wonderful opportunity. Many of the members answering your questions have decades of numismatic experience and have demonstrated their knowledge of the minting process time and time again. But somewhow, you manage to insult them when they are trying to help. Some other members include world renowned experts (that term is an accurate description, not hyperbole) on error coins as well as numismatic authors, writers for numismatic periodicals, and people who helped found the authentication and grading services that are a huge part of the hobby. Why would they want to help somebody with a demeanor and attitude that you've shown in your brief tenure here. Sorry, but I don't feel the desire to help you now or in the future. Best of luck with your collecting endeavours
Just a damaged coin. Reed marks are common and happen after leaving the press. You will see a lot of them on Morgan dollars because of the size and weight of the coin.
Let's keep it mature and respectful here. No need for any escalation. The only possible scenario in which reeding would appear on a coin before being struck is if an already struck coin was with the planchets before it was struck. There are some Lincoln cents struck on Roosevelt dimes. But, the likelihood of that being the case is so unimaginably small that your coin is almost certainly PMD. I don't even know if struck coins could get mixed in with blanks during this time period. Even the ones from the 1990s seem a little too good to be true and might have needed some "help." Even if it was somehow prestrike damage, there would probably be no way to tell. This is very true. OP you should check out these sites. @furryfrog02 has helped me for probably the whole duration of my time on CoinTalk. He's helped me a countless number of times.
Old, Furryfg and Paddy went on the attack in the last thread I posted and got more than they bargained for when they decided it was okay to talk down to a new member for no apparent reason. I have no doubt that belittling new users is their usual MO...to let them know who is boss, but this time they were called out for it and got their knickers in a twist as a result. As for using the resources here to glean knowledge from other coin collectors, and being compliant to a couple of chat room bullies that use inflammatory rhetoric such as "did you even try to do any research.." that is demeaning to everyone taking part and participating in an amiable manner and I would not want to enable such tomfoolery. I am disappointed though to hear that you seem to have already formed opinions about me without knowing the back story, but I do not honestly care. I have no intention of becoming a regular user of this forum and can manage perfectly well without it. I know what I need to know already, and this was just an exercise really to see if it is worth frequenting such places. Which clearly it is not, just the usual playground bullies and aficionados. It is a proper chimp's tea party, with the exception of a few nice people. Suffice to say that not knowing such people will not make any difference to my future prosperity, and to be honest I liked btch slapping them around, because the boot is no doubt usually on the other foot.
